Security, traceability and efficiency in healthcare are currently at the forefront of
government regulations and industry concerns around the world.

However, due to numerous and often irreconcilable solution proposed or used by national
and international supply chain stakeholders, efficiency in the healthcare sector has not
been satisfactorily achieved. To address this shortcoming, the adoption of global and open
standards is important. GS1 International, which develops and manages global and open
standards, will be organizing the GS1 healthcare Conference on October 23-25, 2012, in
Lisbon, Portugal.

The 3-day conference will focus on,

  • Regulatory developments on automatic identification, traceability and electronic product catalogues
  • Patient safety initiatives from commencement of the healthcare supply chain up to the patient
  • Healthcare supply chain efficiency improvements
  • Standardization & global harmonization
